so much to plunder
I got three new CDs from the XPN music store yesterday. The physical CDs came in the mail and are now in my physical possession. I BOUGHT them. Like, with money. It is very old-school. Although not that old-school, I guess, because I did it using the web certificates I get free from my credit card, but I still paid for them. With intangible digital money that never really existed. Never mind.

This is exactly how I feel about the whole "decency" movement, and also why I feel so uneasy whenever smoking bans come up. I KNOW why banning smoking is a good thing, I have heard all the reasons and I do care about the health of bartenders and yes I would like it if you could come home from a bar without smelling like an ashtray, but I still hate it. It feels -- feels, not is, necessarily -- like an infringement on people's rights, and I don't like the idea of something we were allowed to do before suddenly being not allowed. It just makes me wonder what's next. Drunk(en) driving kills way more people every year than second-hand smoke; will we not be allowed to drink in public soon? Gee, I hope they don't take away access to my lead-contaminated water! Now THAT would be tragic.
