You spend so much energy trying to explain yourself, trying to fit into whatever places you're trying to make or find, that when suddenly you look at these faces in a circle, and you know that rightfully they are strangers to you because rightfully we are all strangers to each other, but suddenly in this wide-open world there are these people who are yours and you are theirs -- a time when it's right, just right, when it fits -- you want pin it down, to name it, to quantify and keep it.
It doesn't work, and the words you will try to find later are only oblique and failing. But not being able to stare straight at it doesn't make it any less real.
