a thousand words

OK, they may not be worth that much, but I've been taking a lot of pictures with my new digital camera. Things really do look different through the lens. LCD screen. Whatever.

More words forthcoming someday soon...

Hey! Looky! It's an update! Happy! Oh, and I know the guy who did that cat sculpture. He lives in Miami.

Where is that cat sculpture, by the way?

Cat sculpture is on that road behind the Capitol, that runs parallel to all the stuff... er... not sure which one it is. C Street, maybe? But the scuplture is one cool cat.

Bang, who did the sculpture?

His name is Romero Britto. He's originally from Brazil. He does a lot of art for charity events, which I covered frequently for the Merald, because they hired freelancers to do what the staff didn't enjoy. He became a US citizen, coincidentally, on 9/11. His swearing-in/naturalization ceremony was just a normally scheduled event in a courthouse on a Tuesday at 9 a.m. (He made a special commemorative art piece for the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks, so his gallery staff put that story in the press release.)

All of his work is done in that distintive style- bright primary colors, geometric shapes. I have a monkey mouse pad from his gallery gift shop, and a nice photo of him holding a martini that I send out with my society samples when I want rich people to pay me $600 to shoot their mother-in-law's birthday party in Stepford.
