the lark and the heartbeat

I'm going to skip the "tap tap is this thing on" comments and start blogging again. Hi!

Inspired by some random something I saw somewhere, I am going to start doing this short little thing once a week or so. Sometimes, particularly when I feel like I have too much writing to do in too many different parts of my life, I crave something discrete and structured. Just like a sonnetteer! (That's not a word.)

Reading: 44 Scotland Street, recommended by my writing teacher. Not so into it yet. I just finished Spiral, which I was very into and scared me a lot.

Thinking about: Sending off the zoo book off to an agent next week. I had a little freak-out last night when I tried to sit down and read the end, feeling like I am the world's worst writer and I will never get anywhere and who-do-I-think-I-am-anyway etc. etc. Feeling better now, but that could be because I haven't actually tried to read my own fiction yet today.

Also thinking about: babies; oatmeal and its various health benefits; air-conditioning and energy and the environment; how it's possible that we still do have a crappy landlord and don't have a dog.

Looking forward to: Blueberry-picking tomorrow morning. This dress, which I just ordered on a major sale. Being finished with a particularly heinous project at work.

Babies? Don't think about babies.
You are a great writer, I know it.

I didn't care for 44 Scotland much but *loved* the Detective Agency series. Two big thumbs up for that one! :-)
