Many magical things happen at Weetacon, but one of the most magical is the Igigi fashion show. Igigi sends amazing clothes; we put them on; we walk through a room while people clap; then we keep the -- spoiler alert -- beautiful dresses. I know, right? I couldn't believe it either.
(The walking through the room in the dress part was terrifying, for the record, but I managed not to face-plant.)
Here is my Nellie Colorblock dress:
You guys, I love this dress. Fire-of-a-thousand-burning-suns kind of love.
Unlike some plus-sized clothes (OLD NAVY I AM LOOKING AT YOU), this dress wasn't just sized up as an afterthought. It's clear that Igigi's designers understand larger women's bodies -- and isn't trying to hide them or cover them up, either.
Let's see, some questions...
- What did you like about the garment?
- Everything. It's well-constructed, lovely, and presents the illusion that I possess a waist.
- Was there anything you'd like to be different about the garment?
- Not a thing. No hemming required, no insane bra contraptions necessary, nothing.
- What was your impression of the value for the retail price?
- This dress looks -- and is -- expensive. It's fully lined and has that feel of well-made knit material that isn't going to pill or freak out after one or two wearings (OLD NAVY I AM... nevermind).
- Where do you envision yourself wearing this garment during your real life off of the Weetacon runway?
- I've already worn it for a work presentation -- which makes sense, because it's from the work-wear category. It's not fancy enough for a wedding and too nice for an average day at work for me, but a slightly dressy work thing is perfect.
- Bonus question: how many other Igigi garments do you currently have in your closet?
- Mm... four or five, I think? I wish I could afford many more -- in particular, the Odette dress and the lovely Suzanna Danna's Minelli skirt. And, it should be noted, I have never coveted a single sequin before in my life.
Want a chance to shop at Igigi on us? Just go to the Igigi website,
pick out the garment you'd love to have for your very own and leave a
comment here on this post, telling me exactly how you'd accessorize your
new Igigi fashion and where you plan to wear it. One lucky commenter
will receive a free $50 gift certificate. But wait, that's not all. Each of our Weetacon Igigi reviewers will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to Igigi, so you can enter by leaving one comment on each of those reviews
too. Yes, you read this right: Weetacon and Igigi are giving away over
$1000 in Igigi by Yuliya Raquel gift certificates! The only catch is
that you must enter by May 15 and you can only enter once per review.
Winners will be announced on Weetacon Igigi review page by May 18th.
In conclusion: yes. Igigi. It is awesome and you should win something. Yay, do it! (And it's 100% OK if you do it and I don't even know you... I remember feeling weird about that last year, but I promise it's fine. Pinky swear!)

Gwen, you looked lovely in that dress! I think I would love to have the Tropical Beauty dress, which I would wear to my nephew's wedding in June. (It was so great to meet you!)
I have a ton of weddings to go to this fall, and I'd love to go in the Vika dress in brown (with the teal on the bottom). You look lovely! I have the mosaic dress from last year that is a similar style and it is fantastic! xoxo
I was mondo impressed you did the fashion show as a newbie. I certainly didn't have the nerve. You looked lovely in that dress. And I owe you an email!
I'd love the Babette Curvy Dress. I almost never wear jewelry but I'd put a cute clip in my hair to match.
I SO love that terra cotta color on you Gwen! Pretty girl! :)
I am like a kid in the candy store with IGIGI. I love the Vika dress in black (almost pulled the one fred got off of her body). I love the Claudette dress with that sassy little sash of red. I would wear either of these dresses year round. To work, play, out and about or to interviews.
Gwen, I had doubts about that dress until I saw you in it! And then I loved it :) But I think if I were given a chance to buy something else from IGIGI right now I would go with the Ali dress in the multi print, just to have something fun and loose and airy for summer parties. Long shiny necklace, my favorite strappy sandals and some giant sunglasses and I'd be ready for any hot weather shindig!
I also like the Claudette dress, and could wear it to work on a regular basis. I think the Francesca looks like a good all-purpose black dress for fancy occasions. Lots of them look like they would be fun, though. :)
OMG Gwen you look amazing! That dress is so flattering on you. What a nice giveaway!
I love this dress, and I'm tempted to get it too, since it's on sale!!!
You look beautiful! The color and fit of the dress are very flattering!
I'm really loving Igigi's separates lately. Which may account for the pile of Igigi pencil skirts I own. The Michaela Curvy Pencil Skirt in Deep Purple would be a nice addition. With big gold jewelry, oxford heels, and a snug cardigan. Librarian chic!
Gwen, I really enjoyed meeting you at Weetacon and being your Bus Buddy! You look amazing in that dress! I really love the Thelma Draped Dress in Coral/Charcoal and the Cora dress. Either would be perfect for work, a party, or attending a wedding!
Aw, thanks, everyone! How great is Weetacon -- and all of you. I wish I could be all Oprah... YOU get a gift card! And YOU get a gift card! Etc. :)
Your pictures are the cutest ever! I want, want, want the Daphne Wrap dress to wear with some platform sandals and sparkly jewelry.
Gwen,
Love everything here -- the writing, the look, the dress. I want you to know that I passed on the Liebster Award to you here: http://measuredword.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/04/liebster-n-german-for-beloved-dearest.html Take a look and know that your blogging and writing are so appreciated.
Natalie
I loved that dress on you! I was thinking of that one as well, but I don't do boat neacks very well (though I think I'd aim for the Odette dress.)
I want the dress you have on, and I wish I wasn't a dumbass and had ordered it when it was fully in stock in my size. *sigh* I think in terms of actual items I would wear, the Iliana Knot Dress. In terms of items that I have nowhere to wear but it's SO PRETTY: the Naomi.
gwen, i LOVE this dress!!!! and love the pics of you wearing it (and smelling the flowers; you are so perfect at smelling the flowers). will you wear this dress when we meet for lunch? or wear it to thursday night writing circle! wear it A LOT. everyone will applaud when you walk into the room, i promise. maybe you will start a new trend for us: fashion show writing group. i'll try to find something purple, at long last, to wear!
I love the Nicole dress!
I am dying to get the Angie dress in Lilac for a wedding I have coming up…with some nice heels and some silver jewelry.
LOVE. I would choose any Angie dress but I LOVE the Hayleigh dress in midnight blue. LOVE!
I love the Hayliegh dress - maybe with a nice necklace and some understated heels!
I think the Nicole dress would be a great, kinda sassy work dress. I'd keep the accessories simple. Maybe some nice earrings and a nice heel.
The Loren dress! I have gained more weight after the birth of my daughter, and nothing fits right. It’s made me feel very lumpy and unattractive. I need something in a bold color with va-va-voom lines to wear on a date with my husband. (To accessorize, I'd wear the gold earrings and necklace from my wedding. I'm not much of an accessorizer.)
So pretty! I want the Ali Dress, because kimono sleeves are AMAZING and make me so happy. Church, work, dates, everywhere; just a pair of flats and some sparkly earrings would get me ready!
That's a great dress on you. I love the vintage floral dress. I think it would be great to wear to a summer wedding or event. I would wear cute wedges and keep the accessories simple.
The Diana Infinity Dress would make me feel like a goddess. I could wear it everywhere by wearing it in different ways.
I just bought this dress, and it is on its way to me! I thought it was as cute as could be when I saw it on the site, and when it was discounted, I couldn't resist. I hope I love it as much as you do, and I hope it looks as good on me as it does on you. :-) Although I have quite a number of dresses on my wishlist at Igigi right now, I'd love the Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress.
I would buy the gorgeousness that is the Naomi Gown. It is absolutely astounding. I just love it!!! I would wear it to a wedding that I have coming up and would be looking for any occasion, I can to show it off. The colors are so beautiful and it is absolutely romantic and screams elegance.
As for accessorizing, I have these beautiful drop earrings, with diamonds that are similar to the dusty pink color of the skirt, that I think would pair wonderfully. And as well to finish it off, a simple bracelet.
You look amazing in that dress! I want the Tropical Beauty Maxi Dress so badly I can taste it, the more places I post about it, the worst it gets.
That dress is amazing on you! I love the Kayden dress for myself. It would be perfect to wear to work!
I would get the Francesca dress in black, pair it with red heels, and die of happiness.
Rainforest Paradise Maxi Dress is what I would choose. Nude sandals, as to not draw attention away from the detailing of the skirt. Pearl drop earrings, and hair in a sleek up-do to compliment neckline and my face shape. I would wear it to a New Year's Eve event.
I want the Tallulah dress in black & white SO BAD <3 So pretty, and the detail is oh so amazing at the bottom! Want to wear it with jeweled sandals!
Your dress looks great on you!! I would go for the Plus Size Tanja Tunic in Black. Even tho it's not a dress I love it!! I would wear it out clubbing with my black leggings or jeggings, Chunky Siver Jewelry, and my strappy dominatrix looking shoes, lol. With dark smoky makeup.
Normally I wouldn't be a fan of the cut of the top of this dress, but I think something about the colors makes it work for me. I usually prefer something a little more casual but I could definitely wear this for presentations at school!!
I would so love to have the En Vogue Vintage Polka Dot Dress in black! I’d pair it with a red shrug for a splash of color for work and take it for a night look without the shrug. This would be perfect for summer weddings, graduations, just about anything! I LOVE this dress!!!
I'd wear the Rainforest maxi dress with understated but chic matching accessories to my (also plus-sized) friend's wedding!!
