the state of the world today
is that because of funding cuts, public libraries in Oakland have to rely on random private citizens to buy them books. Books. Like, those paper things with the covers. The most basic -- although not the only -- reason for the existence of libraries.

I'm too tired to get as worked up about this as I should be, but pamie.com did it justice, and she has links to the wishlists. This is the one I got. It's about little kids and snakes in Pakistan and overcoming your fear of chickens or something. I don't know, it looked good. If you do it, you can even use the support Chicklit Amazon link to a double-good deed, and then we will all generate some double-good karma for sure.
