Note the logo.

Yup, folks, those are E*ron yo-yos. We spent a good half hour today looking at all the stuff up for auction. It's actually more sad and less funny (less funny-ha-ha but plenty funny-weird) than you would think. Hundreds of thousands of unused laptops with no operating systems installed, and cardboard boxes full of cell phones, and zillions of stress balls and model ships and foosball tables and those tacky cooler sleeves for beer cans -- all emblazoned with that crooked E. It looks like the downfall of capitalism, neatly categorized and utterly pathetic.

And an open letter to Congress from The Nation, calling upon members to oppose war with Iraq. It's the most concise, cogent piece I've seen so far. Wow. I'm scared. If the auction of capitalism seems small and pathetic, this is its truly large and frightening complement.
