Q: How freaky is the sound of a scratchy police scanner in an empty, hollow-feeling room?
A: Veerrrrry freaky.
Someone left a scanner on across the room and after I turned the TV off, I went to check out what that weird noise was. (The other guy here with me works in his own office. We're actually talking on walkie-talkies, which is much more efficient -- not to mention kitschier -- than the phone.) We also just came back from picking up an early early copy of the paper, and the printing place at night is unreal... a whole bustling world of whirring paper and deafening machines and busy people pushing huge carts piled with newspapers you've just spent your whole night looking at.
