Went to see an Irish movie called "Downtime"at the DC Film Festival Saturday night, and it's been stuck in my head ever since. It's not really one of those situations where you can't stop thinking about it -- more like little things that aren't really related just keep reminding me of it. It was about this ex-cop and a woman he saves from committing suicide. They get stuck in an elevator, they get hurt a lot, they say "fuck off" and "for fuck's sake" frequently with their nice accents, they get scared, audience gets scared, audience occasionally gasps in unison, audience gets grossed out by all the squishy blood. I liked it (H. didn't, other friend was ambivalent) but it wasn't exactly thought-provoking. Yet it seems to be hovering around the edges of my brain -- this morning I thought about it again before I stepped into the elevator. Hm.
