A conversation I had with myself (not out loud, don't worry) in Trader Joe's a little while ago, while waiting for my friend to pay:
Me:"Why did you just buy a jar of mango sauce?"
Me: "It just seemed like a good idea, and it was on sale."
Me: "Okay, so it was only $1.50, but did you think it might be on sale because no one knows what to do with mango sauce, so there's an overstock?"
Me: "Um."
Me: "MANGO sauce?"
Me: "I can put it on turkey sandwiches, or ice cream, or eat it straight from the jar, as the label suggests."
Me: "Ew."
Me: "Yeah. Ew."
Sometimes you have to wonder who's in charge in there. But I did achieve my real purpose at Trader Joe's, which was to buy Alissa five boxes of that Kashi cereal she likes. H. and I are going up to Chalfont tonight to help her move to her new apartment -- maybe the Kashi will help ease the stressful moving transition. Maybe I should give her the mango sauce, too... she's a good cook, she'd probably know what to do with it...
