1. What makes you homesick?
Being away from certain people, of course, but other stuff too -- when I was living in Israel, the sight of the little mail basket in the sunny front hallway of my apartment building used to give me a pang every time I passed it.
2. Where is "home" for you? Is it where you are living now, or somewhere else (ie: Mom & Dad's house, particular state/city)?
In a way, it'll always be my parents' house in Lancaster, but I also feel very at home here in D.C. (and Gaithersburg, sort of, sadly enough).
3. What makes it home for you? People? Things?
Yes to both. People are number one, of course, but lots of places, too. There are places I know I'll be homesick for when I leave here: the Clara Barton Parkway, Glen Echo, Dupont Circle, the Key Bridge, the sculpture garden outside the Hirschhorn.
4. Where is the furthest you've been from home, miles-wise?
This cool distance counter thing says Cairo, which is 5824 miles away from here.
5. What are your plans for this weekend?
Making dinner with a few friends (using copious amounts of bok choi and swiss chard -- don't ask), a going-away party tomorrow night, kickboxing on Sunday, and laundry laundry laundry.
