So I'm considering joining, or asking to join, a webring. (A webring is apparantly a group of online writers who select one topic a month to write about, and then have all the works on their own sites as well as collected on the official webring site itself. You also incorporate the ring's logo somewhere on your site, and it randomly links to other members of the ring.) Someone who reads "take it easy" -- yes, it still weirds me out a teeny bit that people who don't know me personally in any capacity read this, but not necessarily in a bad way -- suggested that I go check out On Display. She was right; I do like what I see. They pick interesting topics, and would certainly add a degree of content to this somewhat aimless site.
I must say, however, that I'm intimidated by the commitment and the rules. I'm a little worried that I wouldn't have much to say on one of the topics, or would get really busy and not be able to write, and then I'd be summarily thrown out (look! scary.).
But hey, isn't that exactly one of the problems I have with my writing in general? That I don't make time for it, and don't prioiritize it in my life, and therefore never really do the *best* I could? Yeah. It is. So maybe that's an argument for joining -- or at least asking to join, because I'm kind of doubting that they just accept you automatically. Have any of you veteran weblog people out there had any experiences (good, bad or otherwise) with webrings? Want to tell me about them?
